Pinterest for Greek Business? why not?

Pinterest is a social network that “lets you organize and share all the beautiful things you find in your life” through pictures and photos organized on personalized virtual Pinboards. The Times magazine has listed Pinterest in its “50 Best Websites of 2011” and it hit 10 million U.S. monthly unique visitors faster than any independent site in history while still intensively growing!

Why should a Business connect to Pinterest?

Most of businesses are looking to share organized and updated multimedia information around their products and prices. Pinterest adds a new communication channel organized in:

  • Boards with topic
  • Followers
  • Following fans

How does this actually work? As soon as a fan likes one of your ‘pins’ (usually pictures) he can repin it in his account and organized category, sharing with his online community. What is the result? Referral traffic! This social bookmarking site generates more referral traffic but also buzz to business websites and other social networks.

Usually a business Pinterest account could consist of 25-30 boards and the major goal is to develop an online community of followers that could pin or like your business content. Usually the boards refer to seasonal products that are updated accordngly. It is a channel that could be faced as another platform where users are mostly interested into content consumption but also is challenging for the business. Why? The business needs to display big high-quality images that are visually very attractive and seriously – what can sell better!

As Facebook goes down in a few countries, a Pinterest Tab could server a great injection to interconnect networks, inspire interest and communicate interesting offers with more rich and organized content. Based on recent Pinterest Infographic, Pinterest is following Facebook in the interest generated of traffic.

In Greece, IKEA has already developed an account, with 28 boards, a leading case study, especially when the business is part of an internationl customer-centric chain. Can other companies do it? Sure, especially multimedia and electronics companies. Who will follow and how popular will that become in Greece? Pinterest for business is already available and there are customers out there waiting for you.
